Lolailo sits on the sand at Playa del Cristo, the sheltered cove on the western edge of Estepona, and has been run by the same family since 1998.

Loungers and daybeds are set out in front, with waiters bringing food and drinks straight down to them. The kitchen leans on the sea: grilled squid, king prawns pil pil, paella and lamb chops off the grill. The mojitos have a following of their own.

The cove faces the sunset and the evenings fill up fast, especially at weekends when there is live music. Open from ten in the morning until ten at night, so breakfast, lunch and dinner all happen on the same stretch of sand.
