Sandy Beach

Chiringuito Las Bahamas is a traditional beach bar on El Bajondillo beach in Torremolinos, on the promenade in front of the Hotel Meliá. It has an open-air terrace beside the sand, with sea views from the tables.

The kitchen serves sardine espetos, paellas and rice, and fried fish, with coquinas and Málaga-style pescaíto frito among its specialities, as well as salads such as lettuce hearts with ham and anchovies. Mojitos, coco loco and beer come from the bar. Loungers can be rented on the beach in front, with the restaurant a few steps from the sunbeds for lunch and drinks. El Bajondillo is one of the four official beaches of Torremolinos, with dark sand along the seafront promenade.

Playa El Bajondillo

Playa El Bajondillo is a dark-sand urban beach in the centre of Torremolinos, lying between La Carihuela and Playamar. The municipal listing gives it a length of 1,292 metres and a width of 40 metres. The swell is moderate and conditions are good for swimming. Sunbeds can be hired, there is a shaded area, pedal boats and water sports are available, and lifeguards are on duty in the bathing season.

Showers, footbaths, toilets, an accessible shower, a children's playground and a sports area are on the beach, and assisted bathing with amphibious chairs is offered to people with reduced mobility. A promenade lined with chiringuitos and restaurants runs behind the sand, and a lift and stepped lanes such as the Cuesta del Tajo climb to the town centre above.
