Sandy Beach

Chiringuito Flores sits on the Paseo Marítimo in Salobreña, with tables running to the edge of the sand on Granada's Costa Tropical. Unlike most beach bars on this coast it stays open all year, opening early enough for breakfast at sunrise and staying on for dinner as the light goes.

The menu is built around the grill and the rice pan: espetos de sardinas cooked over open fire, octopus, paellas, arroz con bogavante, fried fish, tropical salads and homemade desserts. The mixed grilled seafood platter is the signature — swordfish, monkfish, salmon, tuna, sardines, calamari, prawns, mussels, razor clams and baby clams on one dish — and portions across the board are large enough that guests routinely warn each other not to over-order. The beer arrives properly cold. Sunbeds are set out on the beach in season, and there is live music on special occasions.

It gets busy, particularly at Sunday lunch, but tables turn quickly and the staff keep pace without losing their manners; English-speaking travellers describe being helped patiently through the menu. Tables at the front sit close enough to the surf to watch the whole length of the beach while you eat. For value and sheer quantity of fresh fish, it is hard to beat along this stretch of coast.

Playa de la Charca

Nestled in the heart of Salobreña on the stunning Costa Tropical, Playa de la Charca is a gem for those seeking a blend of relaxation and scenic beauty. The beach is famously overlooked by "El Peñón," a massive rock that is easy to climb and offers breathtaking panoramic views of the sparkling coastline and the white-washed city above. The Mediterranean waters here are remarkably clear and calm, making it an inviting spot for a refreshing swim or a peaceful day soaking up the sun.

What makes this beach particularly appealing is how well-maintained and accessible it is. While the sand has a unique gritty texture, it remains comfortable to walk on as you head toward the shore. Visitors appreciate the thoughtful amenities, including functional foot showers, clean public toilets, and the presence of attentive lifeguards during the summer months. Parking is a breeze too, with plenty of spaces available right across the street, ensuring your trip starts without any stress.

When hunger strikes, you won’t have to go far. The promenade is lined with fantastic seafood restaurants and chiringuitos where you can savor the fresh catch of the day right by the waves. Whether you’re enjoying a family outing or a quiet solo escape, Playa de la Charca offers a welcoming, authentic Spanish seaside experience that captures the very best of coastal living.
