    • Chiringuito Otola Itsasmendi is a beachfront grill and chiringuito on the Paseo Marítimo Rey de España in Fuengirola, on the Costa del Sol. It has more than 18 years behind it on the promenade, and its kitchen is built around fresh fish of the day, seafood, rice dishes and a grill of aged meats. Grilled fish arrives in generous portions with sides, served in a relaxed, unpretentious setting.

    On the sand in front, the chiringuito runs its own sunbed service, so a morning on the loungers can lead straight into lunch at the tables. It stands on the front line of the beach, with the promenade behind it and the Mediterranean ahead, at number 5 of Fuengirola's seafront walk.

    Playa de Santa Amalia

    Playa de Santa Amalia is an urban beach of dark, fine-grained sand in Fuengirola, on the Costa del Sol, beside the seafront promenade. It is a wide stretch of soft sand with low waves, and the water stays clean, though it can feel cool.

    Sunbeds are available to hire, and visitors can also bring their own. Services include showers, toilets, lifeguards and chiringuitos, and paddleboards can be rented on the beach. Access on foot is easy, either along the sand or from the promenade. Behind the beach run the promenade and the town, with restaurants, hotels and shops, and there is a car park across the road. The Sohail Castle, an 11th-century fortress, stands nearby.
