Pebbles beach

UHA sits right on the sand of Playa del Tesorillo in Almuñécar, on the Costa Tropical, and calls itself a discochiringuito: part beach restaurant, part cocktail bar.

The rice is what people come back for, especially the Iberian paella and the black rice, alongside truffled octopus, tuna tartare and steaks brought in from the Basque Country. Look out for the giant cactus right by the water, you can't miss it.

Playa El Tesorillo

Playa El Tesorillo is a small cove in the Velilla-Taramay district of Almuñécar, 80 metres long and 55 wide, between Playa Velilla and Playa del Pozuelo. The surface is gravel and dark sand, and an old watchtower stands on the rocky headland beside it.

Two chiringuitos sit on the same sand, UHA and Restaurante El Tesorillo, with loungers and parasols for hire between them, showers, lifeguard cover and step-free access. Nautical sports run from the beach, and there is urban parking and a bus stop nearby. It is small and lively, and draws a young crowd.
