Rating: ★★★☆☆ (3.5/5) Costa Mágica is located in a truly magical spot on the coast. The wild Atlantic waves and the picturesque hillside setting create a very special atmosphere that feels like a secluded retreat. The property itself is nicely designed, with a beautiful garden and several lovely places to sit, relax, and enjoy the surroundings. However, behind the strong first impression, the overall concept feels somewhat like “wannabe boho luxury.” For the price point (around €300 per night) and the way the place is marketed, the experience doesn’t fully live up to expectations. The staff are friendly and clearly try their best, but they don’t seem trained for a hotel in this price category. Small things stand out—for example, the receptionist smoking right next to guests. In addition, several amenities such as yoga sessions, the sauna, or the whirlpool cost extra. In practice, that makes you simply skip them rather than enjoy them. The restaurant (both breakfast and dinner) aims to be appealing, but the quality is rather mediocre and, more importantly, very inconsistent depending on who is working. Clear standards seem to be missing. Conclusion: We still managed to enjoy our stay and mostly treated the accommodation like an Airbnb, which worked well enough. But for that kind of experience, the price is simply too high. We probably wouldn’t return. The location itself has a lot of potential, and hopefully the concept will continue to evolve.

The Hotel is located at a beautiful and peaceful location. The premises are very nice, clean and well designed and we generally enjoyed our stay. We particularly enjoyed the stunning view, the sound of the waves and the sea and the staff was also very friendly. However, for the price paid there were some issues which do not meet the standard we expected: - The food at the restaurant is of rather low quality. The menu and the dishes sound nice, but are poorly cooked and presented. Ingredients used were cheap or not fresh. This is too bad since there are not many options around the hotel and you have to drive at least 15 minutes to reach another restaurant - One night the Restaurant engaged a DJ playing house or techno music which was totally out of place. All the guests chose to eat inside where they were not disturbed by the music. We felt bad for the DJ, but it was way to loud and did not fit the vibe at all. - We booked a massage and were left disappointed. The lady was nice but very esoteric and instead of a traditional massage (which we ordered) we got some kind of "Reiki" or esoteric "energy" massage which is basically no massage at all but only application of oil to the body; - The mattress of the bed was not of high quality. The Hotel has the potential to be great, but for that it has to provide more than stunning views and a nice location.

Beautiful and peaceful place but unfortunately we left disappointed for the amount we spent. Over £250 per night for our room and access to the pool. Any other facilities (sauna etc) are an added cost including the hot tub despite being advertised with the listing when we booked. When we queried it we were allowed to use it for free but only because the infinity pool was supposed to be heated but wasn’t. The hot tub was cold at 32C (should be 37-40C). You can have free water refills as they advise not to drink tap water but you need to go down the hill to the restaurant and back up to fetch it. We had a misunderstanding over the Christmas dinner and missed it, assuming it would be Christmas Day and it had been held the night before (no date specified at all and no time specified until 2hrs before the meal so still assumed it was for the following day). The meal we had at the restaurant instead was excellent though! Our room was beautifully designed but we had a number of issues. To name a few; the bathroom door not shutting fully, rations of one pillow each (only one spare), kitchen not equipped enough to cook properly, and building work in the room next door Christmas Day. We didn’t find staff overly friendly. My partner went for a walk around and said hello to a few people including a host and didn’t get any acknowledgement at all. Overall, it’s just not what we expected at this price point. For context, the first place we stayed that week was half the price including sauna, hot tub, sea views, breakfast, complimentary bottle of wine etc. Hope this is helpful to those considering.

Terrible experience. Chose it because supposed to have a heated pool ( which as other reviews point out , it does not ). Room was cramped , with no light and certainly not worth the cost. Refused a refund after we refused to stay ( even though property not as advertised) and didn't even help with luggage etc . Dishonest staff , claimed that the pool was heated ( which is not ) and basically told us they are not going to to anything. That's good old boutique customer service .. Avoid this hotel if you can , there are lots of great hotels nearby ( with heated pools ! We went to one costing less , so much nicer and had a great time .

We were there for 4 days - sadly we have to say that a lot of the comments here are true: the hotel relys on its exlusive access to stunning views and that is what you pay for - the rest does not live up to the price you pay... also the staff is very friendly and forthcoming, especially yoga teacher caroline was the best and most wonderful. But otherwise - the rooms are very cold this season (January) and you cannot heat them - so i developed a cold, the restaurant plays loud music (the same couple of songs over and over again), the spa manager and front desk contradict each other sometimes (as a guest you do not have one number but have to contact several people for different topics: food, spa, general). When there was rain, they said the sauna is not usable and only because we insisted they heated it (because especially when its cold weather you want to use the sauna, no?) And now to the picture... the front desk invited to a "special yoga class" the day before, and there was a party at the place where the yoga is when it is too cold for the patio. At 9, there was still the mess of the party of the night before, where we then did yoga in the corner.. the yoga teacher was the nicest and most professional about it. When we gave feedback at checkout the woman at the reception said somthing along the lines of: when it comes to yoga, it is about the inner condition. this is generally true but still from a hotel in this price range I would expect otherwise, would you not? (to be fair they reembursed the yoga class money a few hours later). All in all magical nature indeed but otherwise not so magical!
